Replace Your Sleep Gear

Pillows stacked on a bed

Sleep gear is the term used for pillows, mattresses, linens, and pajamas.

You wouldn’t drive your car with bald tires for very long would you?
So why do you sleep on the equivalent of bald tires?

When was the last time you replaced your pillows and mattress?

Schedule to replace your pillows every 18 months about 3 years for a memory foam variety.

How about that mattress? Are you waking up stiff, numb arms, and just not really rested feeling? Do you know a mattress weighs more now than the day you bought it? That is from all of the dead skin cells that you have added to it over the years.

Your mattress could use replacing every 6-8 years. This can vary depending on your weight, time spent in bed, and the material. Kinda like shoes. You know your shoes are no longer serving you when your feet ache and you keep getting nagging injuries if you are a runner.

You spend a 1/3rd of your life on these 2 items. You don’t blink spending 30K for a car that has a very low return on quality of life. Yes, it makes it easier to get places, but has high upkeep costs also. Spend the money on a great mattress and pillows. Make your bedroom so irresistible that you can’t wait to go to bed each night.

The pillows that I use are the ones made by Sleepgram. What I liked most about these is the ability to adjust the height of the pillow. There is a small zipper on the side that you open which you can then put in or take out the pillow inserts.

As far as mattresses go, I would take advantage of the box mattresses you can get online. They offer very generous trial periods and won’t break the bank.

The top of the line would be Avocado. They check all the boxes of what you want in a mattress. Organic material, which means you won’t be breathing in any industrial chemicals used in mattress manufacturing. They have a great warranty and a 1 year warranty.

A few other mattress companies are Casper, Tuft and Needle, and Purple.

The last item are your sheets. I tend to lean towards the high performance sheets due to the way they release heat and the softness of them. High thread count organic cotton sheets are good to. The high performance sheets especially if you are a sweater are made by Sheex.
